Haley & Billy's micro wedding at Dawn Ranch
was simply perfect.
Everything from their intentional design, intimate guest count, and deeply sentimental vows reminded me why I love my job so much. They invited their closest family and friends from Texas to make the trip out to Dawn Ranch in Guerneville, turning the weekend into more of a laid-back getaway than traditional wedding. Tucked among towering redwoods and just steps from the river, the setting immediately set the tone—relaxed, honest, and true to them.
The morning of Haley and Billy's wedding was just as relaxed and light-hearted as the rest of the day. Billy kicked things off slow, jokingly asking if he had time to soak in an outdoor cedar tub. Of course we said yes, and not long after, his groomsmen joined in, turning silly photos into bursts of laughter. There was plenty of goofing off and inside jokes that only happens with lifelong friends. Just next door, Haley’s morning unfolded in a similar way - calm, present and stress free. She spent it low-key with her closest girlfriends, laughing, chatting, and easing into the day together. There was music playing, easy conversations, and zero pressure—just comforting and calm before the celebration began.
The ceremony set up was one of my favorites of the year.
This stunning design took my breath away as purple hydrangeas, dusty pink roses and long stemmed lilies caught pockets of light under an orchard of apple trees. Haley said she wanted it to feel straight out of a book - and there's no doubt it did. Their circular ceremony design created an atmosphere that was warm, personal, and magical - a space where they were quite literally, surrounded by love.
The reception felt like a cozy dinner party tucked into a freshly bloomed garden.
Guests ventured the property to a laid-back cocktail hour, sipping handcrafted cocktails and enjoying passed appetizers as the garden filled with chatter and hugs. It was the perfect in-between setting, feeling light, social, and unhurried. Haley and Billy chose a serpentine table that wound its way through the garden, and a design first for me to capture! Dinner was served family-style, conversations overlapping and flowing. No rush, just good food and even better company. And by the way, Dawn Ranch's food is absolutely delicious.
As dinner wrapped up, the night only got better. Once plates were cleared, the celebration stayed non traditional as guests were invited to an after-dinner campfire. And in true easygoing fashion, Haley and Billy made an outfit change into pajamas, leaning fully into the cozy, no-rules energy of the evening.
